School Gardens

TLC's LEAF program supports student-led agriculture by funding materials and supplies, constructing local, school gardens, and developing environmental science curriculum. The ultimate goal of the program is to implement school gardens that students are able to utilize for learning purposes, growing local food, and supporting community involvement.

TLC worked with Greenwood Elementary to build 6 garden beds in 2019. Students in grades 1-5 were able to help plant seeds, move transplants, tend to the garden, and harvest produce. The school donated produce to the food bank.
The garden beds were used as a learning tool in collaboration with the LEAF program. Students tested the soil in the garden beds and compared it to soil from other locations in one of their school activities.
